In truth everybody hurts sometimes... And personally i think this song helps a whole lot when you feel hurt/abandoned/betrayed (or anything else that is negative)...
No mater how down you may feel this song makes everything better. It tells you that you are really not alone, no mater how you look at it, you are not alone, not in pain, not in sorrow, not in joy... there will always be a person you will be able to talk/correlate to.
Personally it did help me when i felt knocked down by life.
"I get knocked down, but i get up again! Your never gonna keep me down!"
